Silica membrane spin columns (Mini and Micro) with 2 mL collection tubes

Silica Membrane Spin Columns – Mini & Micro, with 2 mL Collection Tubes

Changyu Bio supplies empty silica membrane spin columns in two formats, Mini and Micro, each packed with 2 mL collection tubes. They are for labs and kit developers who prepare their own lysis, wash and elution buffers for DNA or RNA purification. Changyu Bio has supplied these columns for nearly ten years. Mini or Micro: which one?

Mini columns are the general-purpose format used in most plasmid, genomic DNA, PCR clean-up, gel extraction and total RNA protocols. Micro columns elute in as little as 5 µL, for a concentrated eluate from small samples such as sorted cells, biopsies or low-input libraries. Tell us your sample type and expected yield and we will recommend a format.

6-layer or 8-layer membrane?

More silica membrane layers give more binding surface. Tell us your sample input and expected nucleic acid yield when you request a quote, and we will confirm which version fits your protocol.

How silica spin columns work

Nucleic acid binds the silica membrane in the presence of chaotropic salt and ethanol, contaminants are removed with ethanol-based wash buffers, and DNA or RNA is released in a low-salt elution buffer. Full explanation and troubleshooting: silica spin column chemistry.

Spin column for DNA or RNA extraction: empty column or complete kit?

These are empty silica membrane spin columns with 2 mL collection tubes. Choose them if you already have your own lysis, binding and wash buffers. If you want a validated workflow for a specific sample, pick the matching kit below; it contains the columns and every buffer.

Common questions

  • Are collection tubes included? Yes, each column comes with a 2 mL collection tube.
  • Will they fit my centrifuge and rack? They use standard universal spin column dimensions and are cross-compatible with most systems.
  • Is there a minimum order? No. Order any quantity; freight is charged at cost. Larger orders receive bulk pricing.
  • Do you supply buffers? Columns are sold empty. For a ready-to-use workflow, choose one of the complete kits above.

Can I use these columns for protein purification or buffer exchange?

No. Silica membranes bind nucleic acids under high-salt (chaotropic) conditions; they are not designed for protein purification, desalting or buffer exchange. Use a resin, desalting or ultrafiltration column for proteins.
