Does this kit use phenol-chloroform?
Partially: lysis uses Buffer RL, a TRIzol-style monophasic reagent, and the protocol adds 0.2 ml chloroform (or 50 µl 4-bromoanisole) per 1 ml Buffer RL before phase separation. The RNA is then purified on silica columns — no alcohol precipitation. For a fully phenol/chloroform-free workflow, see our Plus RNA Mini Kit (CYRN28).
Can vortexing increase DNA contamination?
Yes — the manual warns that vortexing may increase DNA contamination in the RNA sample. If your downstream application is DNA-sensitive, avoid vortexing and use the on-column DNase Digestion Kit (CYRN3401) or a post-purification DNase step.
What about storage?
Buffer RL must be stored at 4°C (the only refrigerated component); other components are RT. All components are stable 9 months. Keep purified RNA on ice for short-term use or at −80°C long term.
