Viral RNA Mini Kit FAQ

Can I use heparinized plasma?

No — the manual specifies plasma treated with anticoagulants other than heparin. Heparinized samples are not supported by this kit.

Can I freeze and thaw my samples?

Use fresh or frozen samples, but do not thaw frozen samples more than once — repeated freeze-thaw lowers viral titer and can produce cryoprecipitates that clog the membrane on vacuum protocols.

Does longer lysis improve yield?

No. Viral particles are completely lysed after 10 minutes, and longer incubation does not change RNA yield or quality (manual).
