CYRN26 is molecular biology grade glycogen, free of DNase and RNase, used as a carrier for precipitating DNA or RNA. In most cases glycogen works better than tRNA or sonicated DNA carriers, and because it contains no DNA or RNA, precipitated nucleic acid suits downstream PCR, RT-PCR and nuclease reactions.
Catalog no. CYRN26 · For research use only
Key features
- 1 μL of glycogen (20 mg/mL) can precipitate picogram amounts of DNA or RNA from 1 mL
- Each pack is enough for at least 350 regular DNA or RNA precipitations
- Reported not to interfere with bacterial transformation after ligation product precipitation
- Reported not to inhibit TdT at 0.001 mg/mL, reverse transcriptase up to 2 mg/mL, or T4 RNA ligase at 0.02 mg/mL
- Glycogen can interfere with DNA-protein interactions; research use only

Glycogen Nucleic Acid Precipitation Aid FAQ
How much is used?
Typically 1 μL of 20 mg/mL glycogen per precipitation.
Why choose glycogen over tRNA carriers?
It contains no DNA or RNA, so it is better suited to downstream PCR, RT-PCR and nuclease reactions.
Any limitation?
Glycogen can interfere with DNA-protein interactions.
